St. Mark's Church is Melbourne’s first Coptic Orthodox Church built in the Coptic style complete with a domed ceiling.
St. Mark's Church is Melbourne’s second church. It was first located in a small church in Northcote where it remained for several years. In 1986, St. Mark's Church congregation together with The Late Fr. Victor A Rophael was able to purchase a piece of land in Preston, north of the city and set about building Melbourne’s first Coptic Orthodox Church in the Coptic style complete with a domed ceiling.
Completed in July 1990, St. Mark's church was blessed by His Holiness The Late Pope Shenouda III who consecrated the altar of St. Mark on 24th February 1991.
